  • This grant is open to all Hawai’i FIRST Robotics teams including FLL, FTC, and FRC.
  • The grant is awarded to two teams working together as a mentoring team and a protege (mentored) team
  • the mentor team will receive $2,000
  • the Protege team will receive $1,000
  • Applications must be submitted before February 16, 2024
  • Grants will be awarded on March 1, 2024

We’re inviting experienced FTC teams to lead mini breakout sessions and share helpful tips with newer teams. Topics might include robot building, programming, CAD, strategy, outreach, engineering portfolio, or anything else that helped your team succeed.

If your team is interested in presenting, please include your presentation topic when completing the RSVP form. Some possible topics can include: CAD, Mechanical, Software, Strategy, Portfolio, Awards Presentations, Fundraising, travel requirements, etc.)

Teams that lead on similar topics may be asked to present together, or we’ll contact you to ask whether you are interested in presenting on another topic. If you have more than 1 interested topic to present, you are welcome to list them all here.

Dean’s List award DUE 12/15. Interviews 12/20.

We would like to share with you the updated due dates for the FTC Dean’s List Awards.

The deadline for all teams to nominate students is December 15th, 2025 at 11:59pm Eastern time.

Mentors/coaches, please review the Dean’s List Nomination Guide prior to making their Dean’s List nomination. Nominations must be made using the Team Registration System. 


Interviews for Hawaii semi-finalists will be on Saturday, December 20th, via Zoom, time TBD, and will be shared with nominees after the 12/15 due date.

*Note: The Dean’s List interviews will be conducted after the Hawaii FTC State Championship concludes, which is on December 14th, Sunday.

We are in the process of exploring different ways to recognize our two Hawaii FIRST Tech Challenge Dean’s List finalists at other events in collaboration with other Hawaii FIRST programs.

Portfolio Submission Link & Deadline

This year’s Engineering Portfolio is due on Sunday, November 30th, at 4:00 PM HST.

  • Must consist of 1 cover page, including the team number
  • Must contain no more than 15 pages of content
  • US Letter-sized pages or A4-sized pages only
  • Must be less than 15 MB in size when uploaded
  • Must only include progress, challenges, and accomplishments that have taken place since January 1, 2025.

Please note: Failure to meet the Engineering Portfolio requirements may result in the judges only seeing a portion of your portfolio
(i.e., the first 15 pages of your 50-page document, or the pages that can fit under the 15 MB required size).

The Engineering Portfolio Instructions are in the FTC Competition Manual, under Awards.

Teams are encouraged to review the Outreach Terms and Definitions Document to understand the requirements behind specific terms (starting a FIRST team, running an event, reaching x number of people).
